pelvic floor physiotherapy for new and expectant mothers

physio

Where: Bedford location

When: Sun Nov 4th, 2018

Time: 10am-11am

Cost: $15 pp

Pelvic floor physiotherapy is about a lot more than just Kegels! Throughout pregnancy, your body undergoes significant changes to allow for the growth and development of your precious baby on board.  This however, can be an uncomfortable and sometimes painful process for some women. When baby arrives, new challenges and issues can sometimes arise and many women don’t know where to turn or if these things are normal.

Join Krista Ross, certified pelvic floor physiotherapist, as she discusses some of the most common questions and concerns regarding your pelvic health during and after pregnancy.  The workshop will provide and overview of such things as preventing low back pain and sciatica, safe core strengthening, return to exercise post-delivery, diastasis recti, incontinence, prolapse, scar tissue massage and more.  We’ll discuss when it is appropriate to practice Kegels or how to check yourself for abdominal separation. This event has been developed for women who are pregnant or who have recently given birth; however, it is open to all moms who are curious about how physiotherapy can help with their pelvic health.

To register please call our Bedford location 902-406-4220 or register online

 About Krista:

Krista Ross (MScPT) holds a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology (Hons) from St. Francis Xavier University and a Master of Science in Physiotherapy from Dalhousie University.  Since her graduation in 2012, she has obtained experience in a wide variety of populations, including neurological, orthopaedic, paediatric, vestibular/vertigo and pelvic health.  Following graduation, she completed her Level 1 Advanced Manual Therapy skills training, giving her a more ‘hands-on’ approach to physiotherapy. She has also spent time teaching and assisting upper-level students at the Dalhousie School of Physiotherapy.

Krista has a special interest in women’s health and has obtained her certification as a pelvic floor physiotherapist.  As a mom of two young boys, she gained a better understanding of the effects of pregnancy and motherhood and is passionate about helping women enjoy these special times in life.  She is currently studying to become a Rost-certified pelvic floor physiotherapist which gives her further expertise in the area of physiotherapy during pregnancy. She has also completed pelvic health training specific to women athletes, giving her a deeper knowledge about return to exercise after pregnancy and pelvic health issues during sports.
